Trump implemented trade killing tariffs all over the world; most made zero sense except to the dumb asses who believed in him. Like the US supposedly needed no lumber from Canada so why not jack up the prices and pretend it's Canada's fault. Cue the record lumber prices now. If you want to talk about supply chain issues Trump did more then any human on the planet to exasperate them and he did it on purpose. Biden has created some problems but he can't touch the damage Trump did.

As I said, over the last few decades, the West has emasculated itself so much that cowardice is now seen as a virtue and money trumps every other interest, including security.

You know why it is seen as a "last resort"? Because Western creditors won't be able to, easily, get their money from Russians.

Russia is 12% of worldwide oil production. The sanctions will not remove all 12% unless Russians completely halt production - they will just not allow payments except into escrow accounts until the resolution of the conflict. And if Russians completely halt it - talk about slashing your throat.

US imports 17M barrels a year from Russia. US consumes 18M barrels of oil a day.

I corrected two posts after. US imports ~20M barrels a month from Russia. Consumes 18M barrels a day.
