Right now the US debt is 69bp as you probably already know (I assume you saw the report today which prompted you to consider this...)

Sovereign credit default spreads widen to record levels - dealers- UK CDS spread widens 10bps to record 134bps, - US CDS widens 1bps to record 70bps - Spain CDS at 154bps, up 11.5bps

After trading at about 20 bps this past June, the cost of U.K. Credit default swap protection has spiked to 147 bps (traded as high as 165bps Wednesday).
