I think the fishing issue is emotive because fish and chips were not rationed in the Second World War.
I think it's literally the only bargaining chip ( thing of interest ) the UK has over the EU, used it to exchange for slightly better something or another.

But if the British want to trade with the EU, they will have to adhere to European rules. They had to make a huge concession there. In terms of the environment, climate and labor, as well as in terms of competition policy and state aid, the British will have to comply with European rules if they want to continue to trade with the EU. And it is the UK's largest trading partner.
This actually shows that the whole story behind the Brexit campaign was actually one big fable. Johnson will now have to explain this to his parliament and to the British people. Yet Johnson also sells this as a victory, that is how he stands in life. In a video message he posted on Twitter on Thursday evening, he described the Brexit agreement as a "Christmas present" for the British. He also referred to his triumph in fishing. After all, European fishermen will be allowed to catch a quarter less fish in British waters in the coming years.
Johnson also uses terminology such as "we are now in control of our own rules." That is true in the sense that Britain can indeed make its own rules, but then the EU will immediately say that trade is no longer possible in the way it used to be.

Brexit was a disaster from day one sold by populist politicians and not surprisingly cheered on by some of the resident American dumb asses on here. It was the same under Trump; destroy perfectly good agreements that took huge efforts to create, pretend it's somehow good for the core supporters, and hope they aren't smart enough to actually notice that it isn't 95% of the time. International trade is one of the worst understood areas on this site. Trade by definition helps out both parties to some degree; when I saw people on here believing that attacking trade with Canada was a good thing ( because Trump said so ), it was getting absurd in the US. At the time, Canada ran a small trade deficit with the US ( not that trade deficits are necessarily a bad thing at all ).
I defy any US citizen or UK citizen to prove that all these trade moves helped out their country the last 4 years. What's the prize here to justify all the effort to destroy things ?

Brexit vote was won via racial crap, media filled there heads with immigrants taking all there jobs and raping woman.
Being used to destabilise EU and maybe Nato, Russia playing games I fear, WW3 none nuclear getting closer.

It wasn’t a good idea to hold the referendum when merkel had invited unlimited refugees to Europe. Should have played it long and Cameron may have one.
I didn't even know the Vote was happening, I was in the pub after a MTB ride with the lads and they had it on, heard rumours they where trying to do it, thought never happen, ohhh a vote, that's how much I pay attention to the news.
It was mostly a racial vote and all based on lies and 1 sides facts, without any of the EU upsides being mentioned.
You don’t follow the news but have a strong opinion what the vote was about. It was a vote for democracy and against one world government by technocrats and globalism. Giving jobs to the Chinese communist party is unpopular and the globalists have got a job to do to get people to vote for it.
Pretty much everyone I know 75% voted brexit to get the immigrants out, I know of 1 who voted for that reason. They might say your reason at first to not sound racist, but there racist.
