--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
quote from Gordon Gekko:
we're proof life exists in the universe. there's no way we're the only planet... there's probably life ALL OVER THE PLACE. i don't think aliens have come to earth while we've been here, though.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There are over 250 billion suns in the Milky Way, and over 200 billion galaxies in the so far known universe. Estimates have the universe age at 15 billion years from the biggy bangy,
Earth is estimated to 4-5 billion years old.
Life elsewhere certainty. Visits by alien here? Let's see..
In 4 billion years we have man on earth year 2002.
Early signs of human species 40 thousand BC? 100 thousand BC?
So take the advances we have gone through the past 40-100k years. Try to explain to cavemen, lasers, nuclear weapons, supersonic flight...
Now take the human species right now and project where we will be in another 1000 years, 1 million years 1 billion years, or till the remainder 10 billion years of our now estimated universe age.
Can't even think what capabilities we will have by then. Or capabilities that other species on other solar system have already.
Here on earth we study other species, tag them, monitor them, travel to every corner of our planet to discover them. It took few hundred years to build instruments and transportation methods so we can get to previously unknown places on the planet. Give it few more thousand years and going to the edges of the galaxy could be as easy as hoping on a plane form LA to NY.
Do you think that aunts are aware of us when we look at them? How about bacteria, do you think they know we are around?
Probabilitywise, I fully agree with you about life in the universe. And there is an extremely good chance we have been visited for a long time.
It's only a matter of time until it is to revealed to the mass populous, could be very soon.
