UAW to own 55% of Chrysler after restructuring

Union leadership will realize they can make more money by running the company profitably as opposed to giving the workers excessive compensation - things will come full circle, there will be no real "union", just the perfect setup for the new "management". They'll own the workers and the company.

Union leadership is a for-profit adventure...
 
Is it Comedy or Tragedy?

So the adolescents in the UAW are all grown up now and entering the world of big business. Congratulations, "you've come a long way baby," albeit on the taxpayer's dime. And now that you've pulled off your coup de ta, what next? Who will lead your new regime? Well of course "Him", but what of your CEO? And most importantly, who will you file your grievances against? The world is unfair and someone is to blame! Hmmm... i suppose the taxpayer will have to carry that burden too. It is their fault after all. If they would just stop buying those damn Hondas and Toyotas, everything would be fine again, like the 50s. There should be a tax on people like that, it's un-American!!!

The show must go on!!! But the final act will not be pretty, ...and it will end. Think "Lord of The Flies", only there won't be an adult to stop the madness once the fires consume everything and reach the shoreline. Or put another way, it's nuckin futs...

The car makers and Airlines are two industry organizations where Unions have run the books into red. Does not make sense to screw the same bolt or polish up the same small patch for $30 a hour.

Until the Unions gave major concessions, Airlines were in red even in good years......Pilot U's, Mechanist, Attendents.....all had to give 20%+ salary and benefit cut downs.

The point is there has to be sanity in the compensations. If CEO's are getting $25M for 25 weeks of work, even if company value decline during that time, then lower layers of employees would demand same type splurges in compensations.

End of the day, to save a company both Senior Management and Unions supported wages should be brought to sense. So far both these groups have been looting companies harder, just because other is getting by with same philosophy. Got to earn your keep!
 
Unions are just like politicians in that when they are wrong, they won't make any adjustments. (not any significant ones, anyway) They will just claim that it's not their fault, it's someone elses.

So, who will they blame? The obvious answer is foreign countries and value of dollar and so forth. And then demand that the gov't, their partner, do something about it. The gov't will comply by letting the dollar fall, all the while telling us they want a strong dollar, and if that doesn't do the trick, there will be more import restrictions, percent content quotas, etc.

Of course letting the dollar fall while running these huge deficits creates it's own problems, but then that's what gov'ts do, is create more problems with their so called answers to other problems.

Doesn't work that way. If that is the case, communism will work. The whole thing between Capitalism and Communisim is one work for himself and the other work for himself and everyone else.

What will happens is, they will raise/keep their own compensation and bleed the company dry in a long term. Basically, take whatever money left there and run. Run to the government first. If that fail, run away forever.
 
The UK went through this 25 years ago. They had noncompetitive brands like Rover, MG, Austin-Healey. The government did just what Obama is doing, propping them up to prevent layoffs. Where are they now?

It will be interesting to watch auto manufacturing companies run by unions and liberal democrats. One obvious change will be huge pressure for trade barriers.

You see, that would require studying history, which many of our politicians either don't do, refuse to do, or have and repeat the mistakes of the past because it is the political move to do.

Not the right move, the best political move.

At this point, the only thing I can say is just use the governments stupidity to earn some coin...
