A very terrible plight, digging a ditch for themselves and carelessly hoping there is light at he end of the tunnel.

Not hoping but expecting. Americans are fundamental optimists and everyone, from government to households, lives on credit and have been doing so for decades.
Let's be honest, the most dramatic souces of debt are student loans and military spending. Anyone willing to address those? I thought so.... so, where's the party?!?
