U.S. Healthcare in Crisis.

SouthAmerica: I had posted this thread and my other thread on the economics forum, then someone moved them to Politics & Religion.

That is the American mentality, and that is why the healthcare system in the US is a mess.

Whoever moved this thread thinks that healthcare matters is just a political issue and not an economic matter. Maybe when that person is sick he makes an appointment to see a politician instaed of a doctor.

Here is the other thread:

Paul Krugman - National Health Insurance

I am not going to waste time repeating the information that I posted years ago on this subject.

I just want to add that the democrats are as incompetent as the republicans and there is not a single soul in Congress that is worth my vote - we have a bunch of incompetent idiots in Congress.

It is a sad situation!!!!

I wonder why the US Congress has reached such a low level of competence?

Quote from southamerica:

After Al Gore secures the democratic nomination for the presidential run of 2008 – John Edwards might be a good addition to the ticket as the VP. – and I can see the presidential ticket: Gore/Edwards for 2008.

Probably just as well, since you don't know wtf you're talking about anyway.

--------------------

Even if you put politics aside, Congress is a case of those knowing more and more about less and less (to use a well worn phrase).

There is no big picture in America.

Every issue is converted to numbers and math, this way they can justify their position without offending anyone or so they think.

SouthAmerica: "60 million people"

About 60 million people in the United States had no health insurance at some point in time after January 2008, according to survey data released from the Centers for Disease and Control Wednesday.

Quote from southamerica:

"... The United States is already in the beginning stages of this massive health care crisis, and what we are experiencing today it is just the tip of the iceberg.

There are many reasons why the Unite States needs to redesign its entire health care system ASAP – and it is time for a national health care program that will cover everyone and also will help the baby booming generation survive the Alzheimer’s epidemic that it is just ahead of all of us in the United States.

But isn't this just the kind of thing where a government-run healthcare will deny treatment.. as "too expensive"? They'd want the afflicted to die as quickly as possible to save money.

How dare the government do an HMO's job.

Quote from Lucrum:

Maybe our resident know it all genius would care to point out where it says in the Constitution that Health Care is the Governments job in the first place.

PURPOSE AND EFFECT OF THE PREAMBLE

Although the preamble is not a source of power for any department of the Federal Government, 1 the Supreme Court has often referred to it as evidence of the origin, scope, and purpose of the Constitution.
