CHICAGO (Reuters) - The U.S. government has awarded Novavax Inc (O:NVAX) $1.6 billion to cover testing, commercialization and manufacturing of a potential coronavirus vaccine in the United States, with the aim of delivering 100 million doses by January 2021.

The award is the biggest yet from "Operation Warp Speed", the White House program aimed at accelerating access to vaccines and treatments to fight the coronavirus that causes COVID-19.

"What this Warp Speed award does is it pays for production of 100 million doses, which would be delivered starting in the fourth quarter of this year, and may be completed by January or February of next year," Novavax Chief Executive Stanley Erck told Reuters.

So much money thrown into this vaccine thing. Hope it becomes available soon. They started human testing with the first human subject back in March. What happened to that? So much testing and still no results.
 
I would not be surprised if some gov't guy had inside info or other benefits for awarding the contract.
with so many companies looking for vaccine worldwide..there is no vaccine, you this company can find a cure with every scientist in the globe looking for the vaccine, you be rich if you can find a vaccine and patent it. that is what motivate innovation ---REWARD. billions in profits.

the stock is up 8x since the corvid 19 in 6 months...latest investment fad. as usual. the index or market is up only 50%. the beta is 10

there is no vaccine,,another scam to ripoff the public with BS doses. and fake vaccines. selling snake oil at this point.

like the regular flu vaccine, you need a new vaccine every year due to the flu mutating.every year. a vaccine works by infecting a person with the weaker version of the corvid 19 virus and hoping the body can create a anti-body for it. some people have natural anti-bodies of corvid 19 and have no symptoms.
this virus is not a normal virus. that fauci has ever seen before. it spreads easily and airborne and highly contagious and can be dormant for long time and you can freeze the virus. so cold won't kill it. qarrantine is the only solution and viable one. but people refuse to wear a mask. if wearing a mask was mandatory the flu would be down 99% in a month. what is the point of social distancing rules if wearing a mask is not mandatory.

you shut down the economy yet wearing mask is not mandatory or criminal offense.??? asking people to wear a mask is not asking too much, you will not die from wearing mask or glove at work.

a large percentage of the people don't care about the virus or getting infected. no point in shutting down the economyand putting gov't and business into bankruptcy. spend the money booze and partying instead.

There would probably not be enough one-time masks, for long duration.

Also masks have breath out valve , it only filter incoming. But spreads if wearer is sick...

If all would wear...
It would slow it so far down that the period required for wearing&producing masks would extend alot.

And you touch everything, also need gloves...
