Two New Studies Raise Red Flags on Obamacare

So it seems 2/3 of newly insured are Medicaid people.

And the real Odumbo numbers are about half of what they claimed last week.

Great job! How much $$$$$$$$$$ was expended for this small increase in coverage? And how many people are seeing their premiums go up?

And it clearly stated 6 million were Medicaid. That leave just over 3 million.

While the White House can claim credit for a net increase of 9.3 million insured and a lowered uninsured rate from 20.5 percent to 15.8 percent, the data provides a significantly different picture than that painted by President Obama and the ACA’s advocates.

First, a significant amount of this increase comes from Medicaid enrollments, not private insurance. Almost six million people enrolled in Medicaid, and earlier studies showed that a relatively small number of those came from the expansion built into the ACA; most of these would have been Medicaid-eligible prior to the reform.

did u even read that?

"Of those who were previously uninsured but are now insured, 7.2 million gained ESI, 3.6 million are now covered by Medicaid, 1.4 million have signed up through a marketplace, while the remainder gained coverage through other sources."

"Our estimates suggest that only about one-third of new marketplace enrollees were previously uninsured. While this percentage seems low in absolute terms, it is slightly higher than an earlier figure reported by McKinsey & Company."

hahahahaha! while obamacare sucks and will continue to suck for as long as it exists, regardless of these enrollment numbers, this is total failure. most of the gains are through employers, then medicaid, and only 1.4mil through a marketplace. of the 1.4 only a THIRD (467,000 ppl) are estimated to have been previously uninsured. that means it is possible that more people lost coverage because of the aca than gained it because of the aca (if you ignore the medicaid expansion), through this enrollment period:

"Less than one million who previously had individual market insurance transitioned to being uninsured. While we cannot tell if these people lost their insurance due to cancellation or because they simply felt the cost was too high, the overall number represents less than one percent of people between the ages of 18 and 64."

why would you post this? if you don't consider this a complete failure, then what is?

"Complete failure." Seriously? Give your head a shake.

what's good about these numbers ricter? the prez delayed the employer mandate, so i don't think he should get to count the rise in employer based coverage as due to the ACA .

an estimated 467k previously uninsured signed up through a marketplace == FAILURE.

somewhere near a million previously insured, now uninsured possibly due to the ACA == FAILURE

so what does that leave us with.. medicaid. what a victory, maybe in a few years it can top medicare as the biggest black hole in all of gubbermint.

I think many consider it a complete failure ... consider the total cost (which we do not know), but we know it's massive. It would be interesting to see what the total cost per newly enrolled person would be. Is it over $100K per person? I don't know but when we look at certain states and see hundreds of millions spent and virtually no people enrolling it paints a picture of incredible waste. And I predict that Washington will ever release the data on how many newly covered there actually are given that they have botched much of the data collection facets during the rollout of this fiasco.

I think many consider it a complete failure ... .

I think you two are flat out wrong about "complete" and "many". The general public polling data certainly doesn't indicate this. And if it were anywhere near true it is a certainty that business, small and large, nationwide, would be screaming. Obamacare has been nearly invisible to our US divisions (Wyoming, Utah, Texas, for three). That you can find an exception here and there does not change this; if it were complete, the hue and cry would be deafening.

im just waiting here for you to tell me what in that article is good news for the aca. and for the 2nd time, the employer mandate has been delayed, so why are you bringing up businesses?
