My guess is that this is related to report coming out soon. They sure stayed there long enough to clear all the wrong doing, but it didn't seem to work. I had hope Page would turn.
Page and Strzok are both in trouble but are being given an opportunity to be "helpful."
Even though they should have been shit-canned long ago, the IG and the Huber wanted them as employees so that they would have jurisdiction over them without having to go to a grand jury.
The fact that Page is leaving is a sign that they are done with her now from an employee angle and have offered her an opportunity to resign - but they are not done with her a non-employee.
The IG is expected to testify before congress- I think next week. Not having to answer why Page is still there is one reason why they would move here out. Next up: Strzok. Hiring Huber- a real prosecutor with subpoena powers- unlike Horowitz the IG also gives the IG and the DOJ opportunities to squeeze employees even after they have left so you can fire them or force them out and still send Huber by the next week to continue squeezing them. Page and Strzok are on the radar for the long, long haul. Especially as the investigation moves into the State Department and beyond. Remember, Page and Strzok were the ones talking about how Obama said he wanted to be "kept informed." More to come.
The IG's report is close to being released, I imagine. All the signs are there. Otherwise, Horowitz would not be appearing before congress just to have them ask about elements of it and have it leaked out bit by bit rather than doing a controlled, planned release.
Don't worry about Page going too far though. They have a choker collar on her.
My never-humble view anyway.
