"Pew Research Center has released a massive study detailing the American public's deep-seated political divisions, analyzing not just the ideological disunity between the left and right wings but also the issues dividing the large political center.

"Rather than just defining voters as liberal or conservative, the study breaks up voters into groups "based on their attitudes and values." Liberals, for example, could be "next generation left" or "solid liberals," while voters on the right are broken down as "steadfast conservatives," "business conservatives," or "young outsiders."

"Among the survey's most striking findings is that about 80 percent of conservatives agree that "poor people have it easy because they can get government benefits without doing anything." Meanwhile, over half of conservatives believe that an individual's poverty is based on "lack of effort on his or her part," rather than circumstances beyond their control:

"The survey found similar divisions over whether government programs help or harm society. More than 80 percent of conservatives in all three groups agreed that "government aid to the poor does more harm than good, by making people too dependent on government assistance," while a majority of left-leaning respondents said the government does more good because "people can't get out of poverty until their basic needs are met."

"Pew's findings likely come as no surprise to those following the ongoing Capitol Hill debate over the merits of the social safety net.

Second, poll questions are worded in ways that allow for stupid things like "Poor people have hard lives because government benefits don't go far enough...blah blah blah". Saying you disagree with that (which is really disagreeing with the benefits don't go far enough portion) gets you put into the "poor people have it easy" category.

Then, liberal asshats like yourself take that to mean that Conservatives think people who are poor have it easy, and it's easy being unemployed, etc. The liberal weapon is semantics. Twist, label, construct, marginalize, attack and obfuscate.

You know, the solid liberals who, in the survey don't believe that hard work leads to success.

This induced the evil dem workers to quit their jobs en masse. Due to the evil social safety hammock, that's where they've stayed until... the virtuous reps rolled back benefits. Now those dems are suddenly retaking all those jobs that were always there! (This also explains the steady wage growth, as companies have struggled to fill all their unfilled positions!)

I don't think people would quit their job just to go on unemployment, unless it was to their economic advantage.
I do think people are less inclined to look for low wage work when they are in the habit of getting some money every month.
Companies have struggled to find entree level workers because they are competing against Government payouts.
Cut the payouts and companies compete with other companies to hire at better wages.
This is how it works.

You cannot extinguish life so casually as a society and not have consequences. A human embryo become a fetus and then becomes a yet to be born "human" infant. First you convince yourself to kill the embryo is not really killing a human because it really doesn't look human. Then you convince yourself that killing a fetus because it only looks kind of human. The you convince yourself that killing that unborn baby really isn't human either because it's not out on your lap looking you in the eye. Then you convince yourself that it's OK to crush their skull as the baby is being born because it's...well, you get the idea. So eventually if it's OK to kill'em at 9 months, why not 19 months? I mean, they really haven't started much of a life yet, so what the hell.
That's how you get to where we are as a society. Food stamps are more important than the kids, and in another case this...I can't even think of a name to describe this POS who let's his kid cook in a car so he could collect the insurance policy. Life is cheap these days. Decisions we make as a society have consequences. Like it or not, they just do.
