Two and a Half Men R.I.P.

Quote from Gabfly1:

Sorry, I continue to disagree. This is a man who placed a lot of lives in limbo and uncertainty, and all because of his "honesty" and his rugged individualism. Basically, here is a middle-aged guy living out an adolescent "fuck you" fantasy at considerable expense to those around him. If that is what you respect, then by all means, respect away. Meanwhile, I'm not allowed to disagree with your opinion lest I be considered judgmental?

I meant you were being judgemental toward Charlie, not me.

And I don't buy the fact that his lifestyle has placed a lot of lives in limbo and uncertainty... The crew got paid for 4 of 8 remaining episodes, the actors are loaded - I'm sure they can handle being out of work for a few months, and should I feel sorry for the network? Who exactly has he hurt (kids aside, as those problems started waaayy before his recent tirades).

Again, as I've already stated, I respect his honesty and his balls to say what is reality. I didn't say anything about respecting the things he does, so stop going there.

You think the network and the other actors are the only ones who were placed in limbo? I was not even referring to them. They will get by just fine. There are actually other people involved in the production of a TV show, most of whom have normal salaries and mortgages. Four of the 8 episodes? Outstanding. And who is responsible for robbing them of the remainder? Whereas the show previously had a reasonable expectation of continued success in the foreseeable future, that is no longer necessarily the case. And whom do we pin that one on?

Sheen is a loon who went off the deep end. He is in a manic phase that will end. And I suspect it will end badly. I think it's fascinating that you choose to respect his incoherent diatribes of "honesty" during his manic, drug-addled lunacy. As for me, I will only begin to respect him when he admits to having fucked up big time, and accept full responsibility for his epic fuck-up. And not a moment sooner. I really don't need to see any more of his "honesty and reality" dumps.

I think we'll just have to agree to disagree.

hmm i never thought the show was that great...
but charlie as a pimp was coo tho. hahaha
and he still is i'm sure. head on straight or not!

Personally, I don't automatically hold in high esteem those who hoist their dirty laundry on a flagpole for the world to see and savor. TMI. And, all else being equal, I am more inclined to have respect for those who never went down that road in the first place.

I disagree. And let me make clear again, Charlie Sheen is no hero of mine. I never liked him, which is one reason I didn't watch the show.

But as far as partying, and taking drugs, and frankly, doing things his own way, and not giving a rat's ass that people are going to judge him, I think that's great. That takes some courage and it takes honesty. I'm pretty much with Kass on this one.

But I understand what you're saying. I guess we'll just have to disagree on this one.

However, it could be that Sheen has simply gone crazy and that's why he doesn't care what people think, so I guess that's not really courage and throws the whole debate out the window.

Bingo.

I think it only takes money. Once you are financially secure, you can AFFORD to not give a rat's ass.

Sitcoms do 20-24 episodes per season and Charlie was getting 1.8 million per episodes. Do the math, he was able to afford not to give a shit. That is still 20 mill after taxes and agent fees per year...

And even if it dries up, the show is in heavy syndication, he probably could live comfortably on that money alone....

P.S.: "And it's not as if "Two and a Half Men" has worn out its welcome. The Nielsen Co. said it was the highest-rated comedy on television last week, even though CBS aired a rerun because production on the show had stopped."

Bingo.

It's looking more and more like that is what's happening, not that I've seem more video of his behavior lately, and most of the experts seem to agree he's showing signs of cocaine induced psychosis.

Again, that really throws any of the coolness out the window.
