Three things that can happen

1.Twitter becomes an unmoderated free speech zone: regular (well, regular for Twitter) people get tired of shitposters, Nazis, and propagandists and leave, thus beginning the Twitter death spiral.

2.Elon’s people exercise some degree of moderation and suddenly the Very Online right doesn’t have “leftists” to blame anymore. Elon’s cult of personality is tarnished and people wake up to the fact that he doesn’t care anything at all about them. The right wing and left wing starts to bail out, thus beginning the Twitter death spiral.

3.Elon and his buddies succeed in having Twitter treated as a utility instead of a publishing platform and the feds regulate the living hell out of content that used to skate by when it was a publisher: no pseudonyms, rules against obscene content and interstate threats, etc., thus beginning the Twitter death spiral.

I look at the source of these predictions and realize that that none of the above happens. exGOPer though Avenatti was going to be President. Someone who thinks that is a special kind of stupid.

Cambridge Analytica and Russian bot farms did their best for Trump, there are far more bot farms supporting right wing causes.

Calling for violence, bigotry and outright trolling/threats is why not a single conservative social media platform has thrived, nobody can change that and hence scenario 1.
