Company after company are pulling their ads from Twitter. Major advertisers will put their brands at risk on a fact-free abusive hellscape. Soon all Musk will have are THC gummies and MyPillow.

I don't quite understand your reaction to what Musk is doing. It's as if it's a given to you that he will open the doors to the fringe right. But he hasn't done anything yet, and I'm pretty confident that whatever he does will upset both the right and the left. The man spent $44B to acquire Twitter; he is not going to let it implode. Just give him the benefit of the doubt and reserve your anger for 6 months from now if he really takes a pro fringe right slant.

Musk can do w/Twitter whatever he wants. I've always maintained private companies can implement whatever TOS they wish & new ownership doesn't change that position. Doesn't mean people have to shut the fuck up about it knowing where he'll take it given his politics of late. If users want to organize boycotts around twitter's main advertisers & "cancel" it, it's their constitutional given right to do so.
It's also Musk's given right as an owner to censor them and expose his "free speech absolutist" hypocrisy.

Musk is already personally intervening to allow far-right figures who were banned on Twitter back on the platform. I cited multiple examples on these threads. These are individuals who spread wide-scale disinformation and hate.
I fundamentally think that Musk does not understand the social media business and his leadership is not a good fit for Twitter.
In regards to his investment in Twitter --- he overpaid, does not have a realistic plan for enhancing revenue, and has leading advertisers leaving in droves. I cannot comment on what is actually running through his mind -- but certainly his missteps are causing the immediate decline of the company.

And the 20 or more other advertisers who have dropped Twitter. I guess they are all competitors of Musk as well. Coupled with the world's largest representative of advertisers, IPG Mediabrands, urging all companies drop Twitter.
Again, why the extreme to make a point? No, private companies cannot implement whatever TOS they want. That's why laws exist. There is nothing nefarious about Musk believing that anyone should be able to talk in the public square. He is against garbage hiding behind avatars and pseudonyms spewing nonsense, and he's got a point. It won't be easy to find a solution but I'm pretty sure he's got a good idea about how to do it.
All this nonsense about his supposed right wing ideas is as bad as the nonsense he received about his left wing ideas with electric vehicles.

Musk is a guy who immediately banned verified people who politely called him out regarding his false post about the Paul Pelosi attack. So much for "free speech" and "anyone should be able to talk in the public square". Musk was the one spewing nonsense.
