I figured that the tweaks offered in that article is just the tip of the iceberg. I was wondering what you guys were doing to get the most out of your windows operating systems? Particularly for running your different trading applications.
Personally, I plan on using either NT or Multicharts for charting. Or maybe SierraChart. And the OEC ladder for trading.
Please advise.
My system is a P4 3.0 ghz, 2.0 gig ram, 128mb dual out nvidia video card. 4 screen stretch display.
The first step is to visit this site:
http://www.answersthatwork.com/Tasklist_pages/tasklist.htm
Then, Click START/RUN and type in "msconfig". Go to the startup tab and you will get a list of all startup tasks.
Go over the tasks one by one as detailed in the above link and determine which ones are necessary and which ones can/must be deactivated.
Be very careful not to deactivate needed tasks.
If you haven't done this already you will see huge difference when junk like software automatic updates (other than anti-virus) is removed from the startup task list.
Good idea to save a restore point before you do this.
