TV Station Forced to Run Pro-Trump Programs

all that may be true..
but can you explain what happened to the new york times and the washington post.

They were once journalists whose bias only appeared once in a while.
They could tell a close to neutral story.

Over time their bias became more apparent.
Now it is sickening.

Can you blame that on an aussie?

Don't even get me us started on the corruption of cnn and even espn.

Yes, Australia, his name is Rupert Murdock, you gave him a passport in 1985 due to the legal requirement that only US citizens were permitted to own US television stations.

Remember how things were sane/centrist enough until the character of the nation became one of wrought overreaction and weeping in 'terror'. I guess it was the Monica Lewinski scandal that he used to get a solid wedge into the psyche of Americans.

He used the death of Princess Diana to turn a stoic enough British public into a publicly weeping bunch of sissies.

Stop chasing the laser pointers and look up.
  1. He has transformed world politics for the worse.
  2. He has ridiculed and raised doubts about global catastrophes, and about science itself.
  3. He has undermined liberty.
  4. He has turned the public against the press.
  5. He has simultaneously propagandized for “the law” and compromised it
  6. He has undermined essential rules about propriety in the news business, degrading ethical walls put in place through long tradition.
  7. He has propagandized for many of society’s worst instincts.
  8. He has until now effectively neutralized many would-be critics in journalism.
  9. He has relentlessly applied a double standard.
  10. He has dumbed down the news business and hence the public.
  11. He has used his wealth regularly to stave off businesses and individuals that his company has illegally damaged.
  12. His campaign contributions and the public support of his media organizations have persuaded politicians to override laws against media monopolies.
Anda lot more.. http://www.alternet.org/story/151768/12_ways_rupert_murdoch's_media_empire_has_made_the_world_worse

Explaining is simple, News Corporation threw the balance of the social equation and being commercial businesses the others found & made markets.

His UK newspapers like the Sun and News of the World were just garbage ruining minds.

I don't think you taking into account that as the media became more slanted they lost consumers by the millions.

A major influence was the internet as we all know however the Sun & News of the World became right leaning tabloids in the 80s before internet with simplistic social moralising, small vocabulary, page three girls and soldier 'hero' stuff etc. etc. The combination of this unbalance and parties picking signature issues, guns, gay whatever, abortion has caused a feedback loop.

I worked for a different publisher for a while in London and I was surprised to learn that it took a lot of brainpower to write the Newscorp garbage consistently and Murdock's journalists were actually among the best. It was explained to me that working for The Sun was tolerable for a smart person as the staff there were really interesting people at the proverbial watercooler or in the pub.

You will see his signature in the US. Watch for stories of a rapes, female teacher & student lover (they love this lately) and more. There will be more lurid detail than needed so "outraged" readers can fantasize along.

Rupert is a bastard. Quite honestly he is in the top 5 of people who a hypothetical time-traveller should have neutralised to save the future in the 20th century.

I grew up in new york until I was a 11 and Greenwich Ct until I was out of college.

We still received the New York news in Southern CT.

I remember as a kid every night... the local news led with bronx burning down or a serial killer or crooked cops. Everynight it was 15 minutes of Murders, serial killers, ambulances then the news and weather and something of interest.

Murdoch did not invent if it bleeds it leads.

Murdoch may or may not be a bastard...
What drove the downfall of the media was the fact that they were all bought out by conglomerates and cronies.

We are witnessing it right now as the abc conglomerate has absolutely destroyed ESPNs programming. That has nothing to do with Murdoch and everything to do with the fact a conglomerate desired to turn some disengaged sports watchers into democrat drones.

The same can be said when AOL bought CNN.
CNN was liberal when Turner owned them but they attempted to be journalists.
Now they are propaganda.
That is not murdochs fault.

Fox succeeded in gaining viewers because of how left and irrational our media had become.

I never liked Oreilly's show but back when I used to watch TV... I felt like I had a choice during his time slot. Sports sometimes, star trek re runs (which I enjoyed) or Fox or CNN or MNBC. Network programming had turned to crap. Murdoch did not cause me to watch OReilly... the fact there was nothing but crap to watch did. And eventually Fox got so slanted and irrational, it too turned to crap so I turned off cable.

(although my wife turned it back on after about 6 months.)
