Turbotax Dies at 3000 trades, Any Other Software?

Well after spending couple of hours using Turbotax, it now tells me since I have over 3000 trades, it can't do my taxes. Thanks guys for telling me beforehand.

I estimate I have 5000-7000 trades in nice little .TXF files.

Will TaxCut software work with 5000-700 trades? Any other tax prep software out there?

I really don't feel like spending thousands of dollars on a real tax accountant if possible.

Dunno, GTT Tradelog? Never used it but it might handle it.

You can use TXF Creator (http://www.txf-express.com) which allows you to combine daily trades to reduce the total number of trades. Another thread in the forum mentioned investotec's tool. It may worth while to try it out.

I use TradeLog to produce schedule D and then manually enter the summary info into turbotax.

TurboTax has a large number of random limitations related to schedule D. I've long since given up on TT for schD and just use tradelog.

I've been using tradelog for the past 8 years. I can handle 100,000s of trades no problem.

The price is $297 for unlimited trades, less if you have less than 1500 trades. The developer has excellent support.

If you have 1000s of trades, it's definitely worth the price.

The only thing I don't like about it is that to renew support after one year, you have to pay 80% of original price ($237 for the unlimited version). Again, for me it is worth it, but it's something to keep in mind that.

In the past 8 years, I have had to renew the software almost every year because my broker made some change to their format, which required an update from tradelog. If your broker's format doesn't change, then you don't need to renew the support.

I dont trade stocks anymore but I used Simply Track for two years to generate my schedule D-1. Worked great, it calculated wash sales and cost just 50 dollars.
