TT vs. Ninja

A few issues:

X-Trader uses a propreitary average cost calculation for positions: Hybrid FIFO (last 15 transactions) For our LIFO needs we ended up managing our positions outside of the System.

XT API using RTD streams price feeds and position data into excel / office applications which can be useful.

The Autotrading module is bulky and needs some work if you manage and trade multiple hedged systems. I have contacted support with very complicated and intricate issues and was impressed with the overall knowledge and responsiveness.

Trading Future Options using TT is a bitch... Also because TT is comprised of various modules not all brokers support all functions.

Nothing is free. The "no-cost" option = higher comms. The cost-options = lower comms.
 
Hopefully someone from velocity futures wil read this post and please provide an explanation of the $4.73 all-in + FREE xtrader popup ad that keeps appearing on elite trader..........thanks in advance

I have tried both of them.I trade CL only and I definately prefer NT.Most of opinions on this board are subjective.That's why you have to try them both side by side and decide for yourself.
 
Have used both, the only reason I would use ninja over TT is the price. But if you got it for free then its no contest. Especially on high volatility. TT kick ass. Ninjas automated trading is good. But if you got Pro TT then u got Autotrader anyway. And if you trade spreads Then AutoSpreader Function is great.
If you do trade Ninja then def. Zenfire is the way to go. Have traded it through TT and PATS aswell but Zenfire is easily the best connection.

In saying that though if you arent Scalping then the differences arent as noticeable. The ATM strategies on NINJA are quite usefule too......
 
I am sorry, I am interjecting with a slight twist to the current thread.

I am also trading CL only, presently at Interactive Brokers but am looking to change. I have tried several demo platforms with DOM. I am looking for a platform which would have the ease of order management of the more sofisticated ones like NT, XT etc but have it in the IB line format (all quote and order mangement on one row) rather than from DOM window. Do you know of any platform that will fullfill those needs.

Overall my needs are simple: I am not a scalper although I do take some quick profits at times. I don't do spreads. I generally use limit orders. I plan to continue using the futures charts from IB. I don't use any complicated analysis. At present I do not do automated trading. In future I do plan to trade several accounts simultaneously. I really need a platform that can perform the basic function of order management, quick order entry and changing. So far I like the simplicity and ease of AMP global / OEC. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Also, anyone knows of any source where i can find info on "how to interpret DOM".

I don’t understand the appeal of Nija Trader – it is old school, gray button design.

I have been designing apps and computing systems for thirty years and I find NT to be frustrating. I had high hopes for the product before I started testing it.

I really wanted to like it, but reality took hold, or maybe my expectations were too high.

My conclusion, I don’t know why anyone would want to use it - even if it is free for charting.

With my luck, folks will make disparaging remarks about my own product once officially released – oh well!

In the mean time, TT is a good product – even if it is written in Java (can’t be certain about this, but its performance seems to suggest it).
