This guy is totally overrated IMHO. He's just an expert on gunning the shorts.

This smacks very simillary to the
situation of the board of Herbalife...where they spent all of their energy trying to gun down David Ackman.

Don't know, he flew with rocket scientists to buy rocket engines, they turned him down, annoyed at this he'd sketched out accurate designs for a rocket, blew the rocket scientists minds.

I like his sense of humour to, rocket explodes on the lauch pad, 100mil+ gone and he's like lol that was interesting. BFR big fucking rocket, everyone else plays it safe, he just thinks big and goes for it.

Playing easy come easy go with other people's money is rather easy. If you think about it, he hasn't made the world a better place yet. The hyperloop and the Boring company are incredibly stupid ideas and the waste of money and energy. Tesla is so far only making expensive cars for the rich. (yes, even the M3 at 45K isn't a cheap car) His Solar company went bankrupt. On SpaceX the jury is still out if it can be profitable, but the whole Mars idea is again, just wasting resources on something not needed. The energy Wall was the only good idea so far that had practical uses, yet they can't make it profitably and nobody is buying it. Read their earnings report.

Why not make our life better and easier and for god's sake, cheaper? I wouldn't even mind if he is wasting money if it is somehow good for the masses, but he hasn't done it yet, and with the new Roadster he is going in the opposite direction...

He is the biggest business conman in the 21st century...

I do agree sadly, but atleast he's trying.

I agree mars is a waste of money to, not going to find anything ground breaking or what will improve the human race, even the tech made likely won't impact us, we have enough tech already, unlike the moon landings.

I just bought a model S. it will change the world the way the iMac changed the world. The real innovation of the iMac was that it made a USB port (a technology intel developed like 8 years earlier) the standard and that fostered a lot of innovation with respect to consumer electronics.


Tesla will do the same.

So when Tesla goes bankrupt, Apple or Uber is going to buy them out for a 2 digit price.

But this thread is about that, not changing the world. They could change the world if they bring out a cheap, mass market (45K isn't mass market) EV that they make in a profitable fashion. But that ain't happening. Even the other automakers have trouble making EVs profitable that are better than an electric golfcart, so this is an universal challenge. But other carmakers have profits from other lines to fall back on, Tesla has SCTY that brings it even more down.
