President Donald Trump's first budget will call for a $54 billion increase in defense spending and a corresponding cut in what his administration deems lower priority programs, White House budget officials told reporters Monday.

The defense buildup that Trump repeatedly promised on the campaign trail would mark about a 10 percent spending hike. Under Trump's proposal, most federal agencies would face budget reductions, an Office of Management and Budget official said. Foreign aid spending would also drop.

The officials, who spoke on the condition of anonymity at the White House's insistence, did not say which federal departments would see the biggest cuts.

And the republican massive increase in defense spending begins again.

Notice where defense spending was in 1981 and where it was in 1989(Reagan's term)

Notice where defense spending was in 2001 and where it was in 2009(Bush's term)

Looks to me Obama spent more then GW on the military....

I'm all for Trumps plan. Cut out the welfare leeches/illegals. Put the savings into the military/domestic infrastructure.

And look what Obama did with all that money. ISIS is strong, intact, raping the world.

When Clinton left office defense spending was around 350 billion a year. When Bush left it was around 700 billion a year.

When Obama came into office defense spending was around 700 billion a year, now its around 600 billion a year.I think the most spent by Obama was around 730 billion a year,a far less increase than Bush and Reagan and when he left office it was lower than when he arrived.

You can bet defense spending will be much higher when Trump leaves office than when he arrived.

Is this what you consider incisive analysis?
