Trump vs. DeSantis: Let's get ready to rumble!

Yep. A careful reading of my previous posts about this third party talk about Trump, is that it will crop up (and it is) and not that he will do it. People want to go ballistic and point out that it would only hurt the dems and all of that and I absolutely know that and made those points. My point only is that the talk will crop up, not the wisdom of it.

Also, Trump would have to get on the ballots which requires a lot of gruntwork, and Trump is not up for gruntwork and seemingly not a lot of energy for even the larger work so far anyway. He has YUGE campaign funding "challenges" ahead as well.

It is too early, for everything, as you point out. Except, again, my point is only that the talk about various things will crop up. Early or not. The media goes with what they got. And so far, Trump is still their main go-to topic. They are in a bit of a dry spell. Not much Trump and no Jan 6. The Washington Post and others have even started ripping into Kamala even though 2024 is down the road. There is not much red meat out there with Trump laying so low. So they are cannibilizing the dems a bit.

We are in the election foreplay period and the happy horshit talk will start coming regardless of whether it is too early or whether it is ridiculous or not. Along with the Trump third party type talk there will be - and it has already started- happy horseshit talk about Michelle Obama running.

Within hours of your post... Trump came out and stated he would not support the Republican 2024 candidate unless it was him. If it ain't him then get ready for an independent candidacy.

Yeah, I dunno.

As I said "we are in the happy horseshit talk" election foreplay period.

I can clearly see that Trump may very well not get the nomination but would have to see what that looks like.

Hypothetically, a candidate could not get the nomination and the polls and primary votes show that there is little to no support. What do you do with that?

Or hypothetically, a candidate - sort of a Bernie type for example- could get a massive number of votes, poll high, and can make a credible argument that he is a populist and the voters want him.

Two different scenarios. But important differences. Remains to be seen where Trump will fall on that continuum. Fundraising, getting on ballots and all of that are hurdles.

There are lots of things that Trump can do third party if he just wants to do revenge damage to republicans. But if his goal is to actually win, well, that's another matter.

Trump goes after the pedo in Florida. No, not that one. The other one.

So Trump claims that Ron DeSantis is just like Matt Gaetz.

Trump launches vicious new attack on Ron DeSantis
https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/poli...icious-new-attack-on-ron-desantis/ar-AA17dy4h

Former President Donald Trump shared a post on his Truth Social platform that insinuated, without evidence, that Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) groomed underage girls while he was a high school teacher, the Daily Mail reported on Tuesday.

"The post linked to a Truth Social Account that grabbed a digital image of a young man with a bowl haircut who appears to be DeSantis surrounded by three young women," reported Geoff Earle. "One of them, who has her arm around the now-Florida governor, is smiling and appears to be holding a brown glass bottle."

The post he shared said, "Ron DeSantis was having a 'drink' party with his students when he was a high school teacher. Having drinks with underage girls and cuddling with them certainly look pretty gross and ephebophiliaesque" — a term that refers to adults being attracted to teenagers.

"No way?" Trump wrote while amplifying the post from another user. In another post, he wrote, "That's not Ron, is it? He would never do such a thing!"

There is no evidence the people in the image were "underage" or that DeSantis did anything sexual with them. However, a New York Times piece last year extensively documented how DeSantis, when he was working as a high school teacher in Georgia, frequently showed up to party with students, which — while it wasn't breaking any laws — made some people uncomfortable.

DeSantis, who was elected governor in 2018 with Trump's endorsement, has gradually fallen out of favor in his orbit as Republican consultants, donors, and media personalities have lined up behind him as a potential presidential candidate for 2024, which — if he were to declare a run — would make him a direct competitor to Trump's own bid to retake the White House.

Trump has already gone on offense against DeSantis, nicknaming him "Ron DeSanctimonious" and attacking him as a "RINO globalist." He has also refused to commit to supporting the Republican Party in 2024 if he fails to secure the nomination.

Donald Trump Is Starting to Look Completely Desperate
https://www.19fortyfive.com/2023/02/donald-trump-is-starting-to-look-completely-desperate/

Donald Trump, in his latest salvo at the Florida governor and likely future primary opponent, implied that Gov. Ron DeSantis acted inappropriately during his stint as a private school teacher in the early 2000s.

Accusing political opponents and enemies of pedophilia, “grooming,” or other inappropriate sexual behavior, with little-to-no evidence, has become an outsized part of the conservative playbook in recent years.

It appears to have grown out of Pizzagate and QAnon, conspiracy theories about large numbers of Democrats and Hollywood figures executing a massive pedophile ring.

Still, it’s begun to be used by Republicans against each other. And that means Donald Trump is getting ready to sling some serious political mud.

Donald Trump vs. Ron DeSantis Gets Serious
Former President Donald Trump did just that this week, sharing a post on Truth Social implying certain things about his latest enemy and likely future political opponent, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.

That Ron DeSantis has been one of the leading figures on the right who have accused others of grooming has apparently not saved him from such attacks.

On Tuesday, the former president shared a pair of posts that others had posted to Truth Social, showing a young DeSantis appearing to be drinking at a party with three young women. One of the posts, using Trump’s nickname for DeSantis, stated “Here is Ron DeSanctimonious grooming high school girls with alcohol as a teacher.”

The photo appears to have originated from a 2021 piece on the anti-Trump website Hill Reporter, which was founded by the left-leaning Trump-era social media personalities Ed and Brian Krassenstein.

That piece alleged that during DeSantis’ time as a teacher at a private school in Georgia, when he was in his early 20s, the future governor “had a reputation among students for being a young ‘hot teacher’ who girls loved.”

Last November, the New York Times did a piece on DeSantis’ time at that school, which drew more attention to comments DeSantis supposedly made in class about the Civil War not being about slavery. But even at the time, the piece was seen as something of a dud, and few of the revelations have been mentioned much in political discourse since.

The Times piece did note that DeSantis “was a frequent presence at parties with the seniors who lived in town.” In referencing the Hill Reporter story and the photo, the Times added that “two former students, both women, remembered him attending at least two parties where alcohol was served, but they said that the parties took place after graduation and that they were not bothered by his presence at the time.”

At any rate, there has been no evidence presented by anyone that DeSantis acted in a sexually inappropriate manner with students or anyone else.

The accusations, meanwhile, have set off battles between influencers of the right, with Trump’s past ties to Jeffrey Epstein also being invoked.

In other Truth Social posts Tuesday, Trump posted an old tweet of his from 2018, calling for the Florida governor and Senate races to be called, on account of “large numbers of new ballots that showed up out of nowhere” in DeSantis’ race for governor that year and Rick Scott’s for Senate.

“Dear DeSantis 2024 brothers: you hate Trump’s obsession with elections fraud? Well, his obsession with election fraud saved your boy, DeSantis.” This implies that Trump’s tweet was the only thing that caused DeSantis to win his governor’s race in 2018, which does not appear to be true.

Trump also shared a news story from 2021, stating that DeSantis was “glad” that “violent protestors” were arrested for their roles in the January 6 Capitol riot. “What about ANTIFA & BLM, Ron?” he said.

Ron DeSantis is not officially in the presidential race yet but is expected to announce his candidacy this spring.

Whether he or Donald Trump is currently ahead in the polls is a matter of some dispute, depending on which poll, which methodology, and how the questions are asked by the pollsters.
