I think they are talking about a lock down due to the fact that NY has the most cases out of the entire country. I heard that there were still upwards of 700,000 people still using mass transit as of last week ..down from 7 million

I read that china used to take a handful of other countries garbage including US, but they now have stopped that so I can just imagine where all the garbage we collect is going. There is just too much population in the world and not enough landfills to place all the garbage we dish out....you would think in 2020 someone would have implemented an idea. Yes I know there are plenty of recycling industries out there but the amount of garbage we make is well beyond anyone's comprehension.

Recycling was big money until China gained access to cheaper materials Now everything except aluminum(price is terrible) gets sent to landfills or ends up in poorer Asian country. There is no cheap way to process tainted trash.

That's why the Chinese had to bolt the infected doors because they refused to stay at home. They dragged others who refused to obey to hospital jails.

It's not clear if this is legal because there is no precedent and there is no specific laws about declaring quarantine on a whole state. It's possible that it violates habeas corpus and is equivalent to declaration of martial law by the federal government, something that violates all sorts of rules of the union.

Isnt life more important than where stocks trade? If stocks drop like a rock but we save lives isnt that what we want...to save lives...dumb fucks

How many lives are we talking about and how big of a drop? Our society makes dollars vs lives decisions all the time. It's not like we spend every last penny to prevent car accidents, for example. Also, a massive economic depression will cause a reduction in longevity that could rival the mortality from the virus. People will commit suicide, drink and do drugs, there will be more violent crime etc.

People do funny things. A Trump imposed quarantined would likely cause flight from the state (via cars, etc) and spread the virus. People have a funny way of ignoring law and order when it comes to life and death.
