LOL best Trumpers can come up with is he closed travel to and from China, meaningless once "the cat was out of the bag".

But what that did do was get those folks over in China to come back as quick as possible .... before they knew (or maybe some did know they had Covid and came anyway) to be properly tested and/or quarantined.

Ok boy, 200k is a big number. Seems to impress u at least. What about 1 million in the whole world ? Wow... u must be out of breath by now Per capita it s still less than where I live, my Madrid suburban town was one of the few places facing a new confinement lately, the downtown got close to 1% of the population testing positive in the 2 weeks before this new and largely ignored confinement order( not whole year eh, 2 weeks) , whole of Madrid was testing around 800 positive cases by 100k people over 2 weeks by then, that s over 50000 people sick with this oh se nasty disease in 2 weeks in the area alone, while many people refused to go to mass testings where they happened Sounds like a horror scene to people like u, yet the only noticeable disaster is covid overreaction. Most people testing positive are just waiting to test negative so they can get out again afaik. This and that.
Do u know around 140k people die daily in the whole world, most of them leaving grieving relatives behind ? Even without covid ?

This is the most maddening train of logic to me. If you applied this logic to everything else in life then.....Oh, 2,996 people died in the 9/11 attacks? Well 140k people die daily in the world, even without a 9/11 attack. What, 193 people died in the Madrid train bombings? Well 140k people die daily in the world, even without any train bombings. The U.S. lost 47,000 people in Vietnam? Well 140k people die daily in the world, even without the Vietnam war. Heck only 53,000 U.S. soldiers died in WWI, clearly a non-event right because 140k people die daily in the world, even without a world war?

Have I made my point yet, that trying to trivialize the deaths of 200,000 or 1,000,000 people pointing out how many people die every day in the world is to also trivialize all of the most horrific events we've encountered as humans? Please just stop doing that, you're better than that!

According to UN way more people die of hunger daily than of covid, ridiculous. What should be a small event in the grand scheme of things is seing populations cowering and giving up their way of life worldwide.
Poster above who says I m taking info from hearsay or social media about covid cases is quite a number while I live in a place where one would be hard pressed to meet any group where noone yet has had covid. Something that many would have rather done without, but not even worth being weeks in quarantine, let alone give up one s way of life for it. People die of diseases daily, lots if them, they suffer and so do their relatives. World doesn t stop for them - usually.

Nope, 140000 people die a day, many showing similar symptoms as covid does, see chart below. Add to this covid mostly appears to kill people who were close to their death bed anyway and authorities are eager to put the covid tag to any suspicious death, it makes one wonder how bad is actually covid.
Besides IF one consider the Irak war a consequence of 7/11, the Twin Towers incident would be another good instance of an event causing an over reaction ending with much more damage than the event itself.
Life didn t change that dramatically for other events btw, when was last people were locked in their house 24/7 in Spain, it appears it didn t even happen during the civil war. Way too much importance is given to covid while the collateral damage is enormous.
Very sad misdirection of resources as well, harming the youth badly to protect the very old and weak ( locking them in in many occasions hence the elder appear little keen on the lockdown, in Sweden the older generation was the most favourable to the light touch measures according to surveys there, many don t want to live a little longer if it s in a cage. Being in a cage and very unhealthy doesn t make it much more fun I suspect) money would have been probably better invested helping the youth worldwide than working on pulling covid numbers down.

Any time you go with the whole "why are you worried about X people dying, after all 140,000 people die every day" you're basically saying that any number of deaths less than 140,000 per day is something trivial we shouldn't care about. The number of people who die in the world every day has absolutely no bearing on how we should think about an individual death. You can certainly make a case for why it might be more harmful to have a lockdown than to allow people to die or highlight the collateral damage. But just stop with this, it really takes away from the impact of anything else you say because it's such a ridiculous train of logic.

Most individual deaths will be rather tragic if u focus on them, and now people/medias are focusing on covid .While Spain until recently was ahead of european surveys in terms of people´s fear of covid, people in Madrid are getting fed up with it, as many are also not seing much damage from covid itself, it seems the ambiance was rather feisty today after Madrid court kindly told the Central government to fuck off with its lockdown. Still quite a few restrictions and more to come, but after the strictest Stay at home order in Europe we now have less restrictions than Brussels. Paris, Marseille, probably the UK while having more covid cases. Hope more and more people get up against the lockdown but that s not very easy.
Again I might have had a different opinion if I d lived that through more moderate policies, but so far I see much more damage from anti covid policies than the covid itself.

I thought the lockdowns were lifted. Now...there's just restrictions on problematic businesses and/or cities.

I have a neighbour that made the same comment while he was outside Barbecuing after returning back from the grocery store...later in the evening he then went for a long walk with his wife just as he's done the past 5 years.

Once again, please explain that common theme you keep using that people were locked in their house 24/7 in Spain.

Besides as the idiot I was answering was mentioning relatives suffering and wishing basically the world would be stopped for them, I suspect most of these 155k+ people dying daily (according to worldometer today is already over 155k+) also have relatives wishing drastic measures would have been taken to keep them alive a little longer yet it doesn t happen.
