If you have an underlying condition, catch covid and die, it's entirely appropriate to call that a covid death, not death due to the underlying condition, which would be inappropriate.
Very true.
I do know someone that had a blood disorder since birth. She even was home schooled for many years by her mom due to the fact she had a weaken immune system.
As she got older, her immune system strengthen and she attended college, cross country runner (nationally ranked), very healthy / athletic and became a track coach...still a runner in her 40's. Yet, she still had that blood disorder that require medication for the rest of her life.
Unfortunately, at age 42 years old...she contracted Covid-19 positive from her husband (a lawyer) and she was dead within 25 days. She's one of those co-morbidity stats and her death is listed as Covid-19 and not the blood disorder / immune system problem since childhood that she has lived with her entire life.
Accordingly to @misterkel...co-morbidity factors were as likely (often more likely) the actual cause of death.
The above is actually different than his prior statement in this thread in which he stated only 6% were definitely from Covid as if to imply Covid-19 had nothing to do with the cause of death except 6%. Therefore, one should assume the +200k dead is a flaw number via his question mark (see his original quote below).
...And 200k deaths? Check the CDC's recent statement - only 6% were definitively from Covid. Most had comorbidity...
In reality he should have stated about the co-morbidity factors is that many of these individuals were living a normal lifestyle (they weren't on their death bed prior to contracting Covid-19 infection).
- Yet, the CDC does not post any stats like that to tell you the % of those that died were living a normal lifestyle and had a normal life expectancy.
- That's the danger in misinformation by people this misterkel character and others like this person.
- Covid-19 is like the Flu
- Covid-19 is a HOAX
- Does not believe wearing a face mask will protect those around you from getting a Covid-19 infection if the mask wearer is infected
- Covid-19 only infect the elderly or those that would have soon died anyway except for 6%
- Kill off millions...you'll eventually get herd immunity without needing a vaccine. Good approach instead of wearing face mask, washing hands and social distancing.
- Downplays Covid-19 because people in the U.S. have herd immunity
Over? Depends on what you're talking about being over - the 'pandemic' or the hysteria. Here in Nova Scotia, we had no new cases for 2 weeks, and less than a hundred active cases. 63 total deaths - all in nursing homes. So, after these last 2 weeks of ZERO NEW CASES, what did they do?
They made masks mandatory indoors.
wtf? I'm going to write 'fascism' on my mask.
The above implies misterkel resides in Nova Scotia, Canada and doesn't like the policy in N.S. that require people to wear a face mask indoor public buildings (e.g. grocery stores, government buildings, hospitals, library).
Here in Québec, Canada...I've seen a problem in the past month with us Québécois people via the recent laziness within the community even in stores. Too many people acting like its over...we've defeated Covid-19.
In fact, on many days the past 30 days, I would see store clerks without masks and other days with face masks. In contrast, the signs on the door entry states all must wear face masks due to Covid-19.
Simply, too many conflicting behaviour in the recent month alone and I will assume its occurring elsewhere in other provinces here in Canada along with seeing a dramatic increase with elderly people in the stores / public indoor buildings especially in the stores with Lottery Québec.
I thought this was odd because I thought the rule was mandatory face masks in all indoor public places.
We now have spikes in infections / deaths and many people like me are mad as hell against those not following the Health Canada guidelines.
Yet, I'm not sure why misterkel is looking at the CDC stats instead of the stats from Health Canada that keeps its own Covid-19 stats of Canadians including Nova Scotia.
I don't know which camp of the below that this misterkel character is a member (looks like the anti-mask folks) but those from the above typically intentionally misuse the information from the CDC to downplay the deadly impact of Covid-19.
On a sad note, I learned yesterday that a friend's son (college hockey player...20 years old) with asthma has tested positive for Covid-19. He's now officially one of the many Canadians that's infected with Covid-19 and hopefully he will not be among the co-morbidity list of those that have died soon after contracting the infection called Covid-19.
Just as sad...Covid-19 is still a new disease...he could still become one of those long-haulers that develop short term or long-term health problems. Luckily for him, he does not live in the United States with a buffon President that's trying to get rid of a healthcare system in the middle of a Pandemic that makes insurance companies insure people with an underlying medical condition...about 1/3 of the population.
Covid-19 is like a Ninja to that 1/3 of the population with an underlying medical condition that had been expected to live a normal lifestyle.
