Not sure what your point is, but the situation is non-analogous. With Covid, the co-morbidity factors were as likely (often more likely) the actual cause of death. However, the non-standard procedure (new for Covid, and only in some places) is to assign Covid as the cause in the event of any positive test. But people in late stages of dying frequently acquire opportunistic infections. So someone dying of cancer, post-chemo, will have a weakened immune system. They will likely become infected with Covid and test positive for it, but they are really dying of cancer. However, in many jurisdictions Covid is listed as cause of death solely based on positive testing. That's the problem. It's created a falsely high death rate.
Recording deaths in this way is NOT standard procedure and is not done most places. It is statistically and epidemiologically flawed.
