I remember George Bush saying that we could not leave Afg because then the men would go back to beating their wives. That became the new justification for staying there.

Most likely they will be beating their wives whether we are there or not. Just a guess. And - not to disagree with Bush but, I am not so sure they stopped while we have been there either. Nor did the pedo culture.
