I can't believe the non-sense that you write. Of course everyone is against Chinese tariffs because the vast majority of people in government have been given sweet deals by the CCP. Why is it that nobody did anything for decades? Because they were all in China's back pocket. Oh and china was beginning to outsmart U.S. by moving portions of the supply chain to other countries to avoid the price affect of the tariffs and its final sales.
Bottom line, we are already in bed with China so hurting the U.S. importers is not the way to deal with this.
Develop incentives to import from other countries to help those imports comepte.
Subsidize U.S. industries to move awa from Chinese imports
Cut off any economic, military or other aid to China
Work with ASEAN, WTO, APEC and other groups for a combined attack on China and withdraw from trade agreements with China involved so that other countries feel the pain.
Look to Mexico and Latin America to replace Chinese supply chains.
Cutt off all technology exchanges or purchases with china and convince other nations to do the same until the negotiate.
Whatever exports to China they need, find other outlets and support the move to other countries

Straight tariffs don't work with China because their products are so cheap and U.S. consumers are not America First.
