Chloroquinine was readily available as a generic as it is the old anti-malarial. You will of course know the difference with Hydroxychloroquine (Trump did not and confused the two) and this is way more expensive and not available as a generic here hence the Sanofi brand. I help with ordering (I pay for a lot) of drugs for the hospice and they at least never have issues with fake drugs though it is said there are many. I must say in my private life, never received a fake I was aware of, I'm careful to examine packaging though I may have missed some generic repackaged as a brand name.
A box of 20 Chloroquine were 2500 pesos or a about 65 cents in USD. I think the Sanofi hydroxychloroquine was 160000 a box or 40 USD. Nothing in the States, a lot here for the average person to buy on a whim. The wife is currently at under 40 percent lung capacity due to a different issue. Tricky as she was on heavy immuno surpressants already before all of this which she has had to scale off and we don't know if that is a good idea. I check her breathing every morning now using a digital stethoscope though we are in very rigid isolation and will be for some time, maybe a year. I was going to help at the hospice but seems there is no need for now so staying put.
I contacted the Bogota guy with my friend (medical) and he offered to sell his boxes for 200 bucks each without being prompted, just asked where he got them. Hence he is totally fucked as breaking the hoarding law.
The bright side for those with arthritis etc. who need the hydrochloroquine is any who have made Facebook appeals have got free drugs from Americans with guilty consciences.
