We all know the military and NASA in the past developed some technology that could be used by the public. Tang? Velcro?

What about CDMA?

For instance in San Diego you here that Qualcomm's CDMA came from submarine communication research. But I also know the founders had founded linkabit which was a tech company. So not knowing , I just put it in the most likely a public private joint development drawer.

We also know that during the tech boom in the later 90s and early 2000s... the govt bought technology from companies here in San Diego.

So the question is really whether the tech is significant.
