Trump Says The Internet Must Be 'Cut Off' To Stop More Terror Attacks

The issue is that we gather most of our intelligence about these terrorist groups and their supporters from the Internet. We would be shutting out our best source.

Gather intelligence.. ok start with your citizens? Trump may be right but for the wrong reason, the internet is the attack on the fabric of society.

It hardly matters how good the information is if the populace is as dumb as. e.g.

I'm ranting now as I was just talking to an American guy at the train station. He was explaining how Trump was "Andrew Jackson of the modern era" and he liked that so voted for him.

I asked does he mean that Trump will create a new party? The dumbass did not understand that Jackson founded the Democratic party and flustered (there was a shoe desperately trying to drop behind his eyes somewhere) tried to explain that Jackson was a Republican because "Trump has a bust of him put in the oval office".

This guy was 30s, white and otherwise plausible as a functioning member of society. Ruined by the internet.

Unfortunately, the definition of "Republican", "Democrat", "Conservative", and "Liberal" have been fluid over the years.

Presently, "Liberal/Progressive/Socialist... even Nazi for the extreme psychos" ~ = American Democrat party. Bad for all of us.

:(

Indeed, it is an old problem, sometimes intentionally caused. In the diagram I posted you will see:

In business and engineering etc. we have agreed taxonomies but in political chat, it is really sloppy and hopeless.

I'm an Andrew Jackson fan. He was a man of principle/character and vehemently against the US Central bank. Stands tall in my book.

Against the central bank and paper money but on the $20, some irony in that :)

I have never had the time to get a deep understanding of Jackson, no question physically brave and could be a right narcissist but in a solid rock-star manner for sure.

Dude was solid, but fucked it up by murdering indians and hating abolitionists.

Yes, I forgot about the Trail of Tears and such, he was of his time so some accommodation for that. It has been 35 years since I studied American history. Savvy enough to make sure that when something bad is happening, just say it is a good thing I'm doing. Trump would like that.

"According to historian H. W. Brands, Jackson sincerely believed that his population transfer was a "wise and humane policy" that would save the Indians from "utter annihilation". Brands writes that, given the "racist realities of the time, Jackson was almost certainly correct in contending that for the Cherokees to remain in Georgia risked their extinction". Jackson portrayed his paternalism and federal support as a generous act of mercy.[17] "
