From the website of Boeing: "Around the world, Boeing is developing partnerships that benefit its customers and business partners as well as local economies. As a result, the company is strengthened by growing sales and by tapping the best technologies the world has to offer. International sales are driving company revenues with more than 70 percent of total backlog represented by international customers. Approximately 70 percent of Boeing Commercial Airplanes' revenue historically comes from customers from outside the United States, including many from emerging markets. International sales are rapidly increasing as a portion of Boeing Defense, Space & Security's total revenue."
I start to understand Trump. Let's say the trade war escalates and Boeing is replaced by Airbus outside of the US. Boeing would lose 70% of his sales. The people that would get unemployed, which are in general highly trained and highly paid, will then get a job in a steel factory because the steel industrie will create new jobs thanks to the import tariffs.
I wonder how many Boeing engineers will be happy to work in a dirty and hot steel factory for a much smaller salary.
Even a 20% drop in sales will have a negative effect on employment related to the generated income for these people.
