No citizenship for the children of speeders, no citizenship for children of pot smokers!
Oh, please. Speeders, pot smokers, as long as they are American, are already citizens. Illegal aliens are not, and that is the whole point he was making.

And I'm saying we can't parse the type of crimes onto other citizens unless you want unequal treatment under the law.
I propose that tax evasion violators can't have citizen children because I don't like tax cheats.
This argument makes no sense whatsoever. I mean, really. At all.
A parent who is not a citizen shouldn't be able to have a child that is, merely because they gave birth inside the border of the country. That shouldn't be what makes citizenship. It's not parsing the crime onto another citizen. It's saying there shouldn't be another citizen at all based on the fact there wasn't one in the first place.
Other crimes where the parent is a citizen don't revoke citizenship, and if you are born to a citizen of a country, you get citizenship to that country. That's essentially the way it is everywhere on the planet.

Ah but that is precisely what makes citizenship in the vast majority of cases. Most of us have a legal claim to citizenship by virtue of where we were born.
If you’ve ever had children you would note there is no needed verification of parental lineage just a certificate of place of birth.
It’s one of those things we all walk around thinking is one way but it really is another.
My birth certificate shows my place of birth but also that of my parents.
It shows what your parents claim as their place of birth. There is no verification. And regardless, that still would prove what, that they were born in America?

No sources to back your assertion.
BTW - only one other nation on the face of the earth AFAIK has birth-right citizenship (and that other nation has a long list of limitations).
