Exactly. Trump keeps bringing up 2% on defense spending and says our allies are “delinquent” and they are looking at him as an ill informed fool. The two percent mark is set for the year 2024.

I’ve always held the position that NATO needs a modernized charter and mission but going in there with some wrong info you got off of Breitbart really threatens an important protection of democracy and liberalism.

I can’t believe these right wingers are cheering on starting beef with our allies while mum on cozying up to Putin.

Quite frankly, we're sick and tired of being taken for granted. It's almost like the whole "Taxation without Representation" is back in vogue. That's why we voted Trump.

NATO may have made some sense in the immediate aftermath of WW II. Hostile Soviet forces occupied eastern europe. Now the Soviet Union is gone and Russia is a troubled country that poses no military threat to europe. The tensions that do exist are largely the result of the idiotic decisions of republican neo-cons like George Bush to force NATO right onto Russia's borders and to stage coups to force out Russian allies in places like Ukraine.

Trump is using Germany's refusal to pay its fair share of NATO expenses as an opening wedge to dismantle the obsolete organization. He knows the Germans will never pay up. Their entire economy is based on exploiting the US and their neighbors. They see no reason anything should ever change, just like the Chinese.
