I was actually up and watched this opening salvo live before they ran the press out of the room.

Trump is not fucking around. And that NATO chief was cowering. You should have seen the body language. There were no niceties, no sugar coating. It was interesting to watch. Trump is one tough assed negotiator to be sure.

He's not against NATO, and what he said made perfect sense. Everyone at that table knew it too. Trump is all business, he wasn't there to make friends. There's nothing wrong with that. He called it like it is, there was no beating around the bush. Like I said, I watched the whole thing. Why the hate? He's looking out for our country and he's NOT being unfair whatsoever. Impressive imo.

Why the hate? Because the people that hate him will hate him no matter what he does. What's the alternative? They admit they were wrong about him? Fat chance. Liberals don't admit they are wrong about anything. Might as well get the pope to concede Satan might not be all that bad.

Ya know, I watched that thing trying my damnedest to find something wrong with his behavior. So I could play devil's advocate. The only thing that could be criticized, was he kinda did his ADHD routine (and perhaps he does that deliberately) .... where he kept saying the same thing several times over, just in different ways. But I'll tell you what, that head of NATO.... he's a wimp. He's scared of Trump. You can tell.

Trump is an idiot. Too stupid. The Europeans should start looking at U.S. NATO funding by State. Start comparing California's contribution to to the total of the European Union. Then Bitch because California's contribution is too low. Trumps ignorance is encyclopedic.

But you're viewing it with the mental programming of someone who looks openly, considers fairly based on evidence.

I have a close friend who is a psychiatrist. Whenever we talk about some crazy person or someone with a psychosis of some sort, I always say "I don't get why they would do that" and he always responds (with a roll of his eyes because we've had the conversation so often) "you're not going to understand the way they think because you don't have this issue."

It's a good point. We (you and I, others like us) see behavior that criticizes someone regardless of their action and we immediately identify it as "unfair". Because even when we don't like someone, we can still grudgingly give them points when they do something correct in our eyes. People who are biased, sick with hate, and determined never to forgive or accept cannot do this. They simply think differently. This exists on both sides of the aisle, incidentally

Just look at Piezoe's post above this one. Never a care about what Trump actually did. just leaps into "Trump is an idiot, Trump is stupid...this and that." Always attacking the person, not the action.

"paying for European defense", the US is paying for it's own defense in major part and as the world's largest arms exporter by far, profiting nicely from the situation.

Where is the major gas accessible for Europe? In Russia. The diplomatic game of "frenenemies" Europe needs to play is very old.

Russia is responsible for between 50% and 75% of Germany's gas imports, but gas makes up less than 20% of Germany's power production.

This Russia must be our friend and next moment a mortal enemy bullshit from Trump is infuriating but not fooling anyone.
