It could seem that way to your binary mind where everything is either/or.
The Founding Fathers however were fairly big on both personal freedoms and nationalism.
National, certainly national & also nationalist now.. I guess when he offered everyone healthcare that means he was a Socialist during the election anyway and certainly for the rich. German, yep Trump IS a German not Swedish as he claimed and he has remade the GOP Party now to protect his vision.
Now where do I get the feeling I've seen something like this before where the tail started the wag the dog and everyone who got caught up in it was sorry it all happened.
Won't be Trump, he is too old but his precedent may bring a right bastard in a couple of terms.

As if it is wrong to be Pro American. Why would you prefer to cede National Sovereignty to an international body.
I think we should all be pro most any reasonably democratic republic.
If I lived in Australia I would be a nationalist from Australia or England or Spain or Denmark or Switzerland...
I prefer to keep my rights as local as possible.
I prefer my rights to be governed by the US constitution as much as possible.

This question comes after Trump enthusiastically called himself a “nationalist” at a rally in Texas Monday.
“A globalist is a person that wants the globe to do well, frankly, not caring about our country so much,” the president said.
“You know what I am? I’m a nationalist. Okay? A nationalist. Use that word.”
Acosta, as usual, took to his Twitter to recap what just happened for his followers.
“I also asked Trump about the ‘nationalist’ label he has given himself. He brushed off the notion that this means he is a ‘white nationalist,'” he said in part.

The founders were saying that out of many, all will be united in becoming American if they are here. Not that they will be united in becoming a global citizen. You can go ahead and presume that they were not thinking of invaders flying foreign flags when they adopted that. The founders were Virginian and Pennsylvanian before they were American. As a matter of fact the founders were so anti nationalist that they didn’t even allow for a continental army of significance in deference to their strong loyalties to the many states.
