Ford made that same argument and look where it got him.Fords legacy would likely be much better if he had not allowed Nixon to be above the law.

Partial 1 term president.Shortest presidency for any president who didn't die in office.Lost reelection.Only thing he and his presidency is know for is pardoning Nixon.I think Pence would like to win his own term or 2 and be known for more than allowing Donald Trump to escape justice.

Ford's legacy was tarnished for losing to Carter, one of the worst presidents in history.
