Trump Is Right About Birth Citizenship

Every time a liberal opens their mouth and emits hot air... Part of the polar ice caps melt.
You're getting the sequence wrong, which is something jem excels at. A liberal opens his mouth in response to the hot air comment from the conservative. If anything, the cold logic of a liberal is a somewhat offsetting factor. Unfortunately, the heat generated by Right Wing commentary is overwhelming. :D

OK... I will give you the win for snarky comment of the day.

Now Obama, born in Kenya, but to an American mother, would be a US citizen under a proper interpretation of the 14th... ? But, if born in Hawaii to a Kenyan father, hmm, what does Kenyan law say about that?
:D

Who cares?

The constitution says the president has to be a natural born citizen.

the one time I don't argue with you... because you are actually making a fact based argument and referring to the source and not some fringe character's interpretation....and you still bring me into this. wtf?

So let me strighten you out.

1. you are correct illegal aliens should be kept out by those who are sworn to faithfully execute their duties and follow the constitution.

2. While I admire your straight reading of the constitution your side has taught us that judges don't stop at the plain meaning of statutes. So it is obviously not the end of the argument.
If the constitution is a living changing document it alive for both sides and it will cut against the those not in power... slicing out left and right protections until we have a Rollerball type state run by corporations and cronies.

So in short, now more than ever, the 14th amendment affirms nothing until the justices on the court tell you what they think it says.

It's no use piezoe. Not you, nor Arnie's and Jem's links or even Trump, make the Constitution say something it doesn't.
The 14th affirms that all people born in the USA are American citizens.

You mean I should pay them properly?!

The question is about stopping/restricting/returning illegal aliens. It is a political question. One that politicians and lawmakers could deal with anytime, within the law, if they so wished.

You and they won't succeed though by trying to justify any argument against illegals and so called 'anchor babies' with the 14th.
All Arnie's and Jem's links and the Trumps of this world are achieving is the whipping up of some attention seeking cheap empty rhetoric. The 14th clearly confers citizenship to all babies born here, irrespective of the parents' status.

The kids that were born here on US soil are legal US citizens. End of!
If you don't want that to happen, tighten the borders that let their mothers in.

If you don't want their "entire hundred strong extended family here to go on welfare" which AAA is getting all wound up about, then use the law to rule on residency of extended families.
Or simply just remove their parents and extended relatives as illegal aliens, like many already are.

As it ever was, there's nothing much different here. It's really all about the numbers vote seeking lobbied politicians are prepared to win/lose one way or another.

I already went through this once when I was a member of a Christian church that believed the Bible was the word of G-d. Now I have to go through it again with the right wing nutcases who think the Constitution was written by some group of Gods we call the "Founding Fathers" and who apparently were infallible except for about 14 amendments which came later.
Please, do tell. Why was the 14th amendment written?
