A toxic waste dump is clearly an upgrade from what D.C. is today.
I sometimes imagine the problem communicating with many righty guys here is there is so much actual, not made up bullshit, evidence against Trump & Co their minds shut down to protect themselves; they can only see the immediate.
I was a beach lifeguard as a teen for a couple of summers. I used to watch little dogs enthusiastically chasing beach balls bigger than their bite and think how this is like intelligence.

No doubt. Today, with Trump as president and the republicans running congress, this is the worst governance in my lifetime.

One of the great things about Christianity is the possibility for redemption. Although someone has done questionable things in the past are reasonably likely to do questionable things in the future, they can also do good.
Trump's University Scam does not mean he cannot make headway against the problems in the US. Trump is the President who has publicly committed to solving obvious, long term problems in Washington. We should work with him and hold Trump accountable to his promises.
When Trump wants to spend $3.9 billion on 2 aircraft, we should call him out.
Obama was an obvious disaster. From the circumstances in which he became a Senator to the media "Switcheroo" from promoting Hillary to Obama in the primaries to Obama's terrible Presidential performance. It is beyond the scope of the post to rehash the damage Obama did during his Presidency.
The common denominator with many Liberals is the lack of understanding how a functional free, capitalistic society works. Many Liberals seem more suited to living under Socialist political systems.
Let's talk a little more about redemption: Slartibartfast himself has talked about his questionable past. Yet he now spends time helping those who are going through difficult times while in hospice.
Putin does many questionable things and is almost certain to continue to do so. The fact is, he is the leader of a powerful country and the benefits of trying to work with him may exceed the risks of fighting him. Besides, if Hilary and the Democratic Party did receive illegal foreign support for decades wouldn't you want to know about it? Or is there a double standard in play here.
It is best to recognize things as how they are, not just on how you would like things to be.
You would have more credibility if you chose your battles wisely. Putting a negative spin on everthing Trump does can be counterproductive for both you and Trump's efforts at reforms and diplomacy.

All potential leaders in US politics have dirt that has either been dug up on them or things they have done in their past that has been blown out of proportion. As a reminder your God, Obama, was the recipient of influence peddling for a US Senate Seat. In addition, Obama received a "sign on" bonus through a property transfer that did not nearly reflect market value. Furthermore, Obama's Senate voting record had been suppressed and his lack of participation in Senate activities has been questioned after he left the Senate. Obama did not sound like he was leadership material to me. However, he still became President over John McCain.
To put it another way, if you want to move ahead, you need to work with people who may not share your ideals.

"Rewarding bad behavior" may not be an appropiate characterization with what's going on with the Putin meetings. "Risk mitigation" and "economic opportunity" may be more appropiate reasons these meetings are taking place.

Personally, I did not want to see Trump mess with the status quo on trade. To me, it was a risk he did not need to take. However, seeing that Trump appears to be fully committed to seeing the rebalancing of our trade agreements through, I now am fully supportive of his trade policy and believe China will ultimately agree to a fairer trade agreement.
In order for us to reach our goals, we first need to consider reality and be willing to work with the other side. Not considering reality in one's outlook and decisions using results in wasted time, at best.
