You're right. The Constitution's very existence is why we cannot be said to have a pure democracy.

I gave you a like on that post because I agree with what you mean, but technically it's not correct. Democracy starts with having a framework of rules that guarantee everyone's basic rights are respected, to protect minorities. Only within those boundaries democracy then says majority decides. So democracy doesn't mean 51% of the population can vote to screw the other 49%, despite that being most people's understanding of the concept.
