The United States is a country that has perfected lying. We call it advertising. In other countries the word "propaganda" means "advertising". When we see how sexy we will become if we buy a certain brand of automobile, we don't think twice about how ridiculous such a message is. We are inured to lying because we are bombarded by it. Our entire economy is based on lies. Being exposed to a constant stream of lies is a normal part of our everyday existence. When Trump says "I'm the most honest person in the world. Nobody is more honest than I am. Everybody says so," it's of course, a lie. Nobody questions it though. Why would we? We expect him to lie. And in fact, I would guess nobody is better at lying than he. He is a salesmen. He makes his living via advertising. If we thought twice about it - which we don't - we'd realize that it would be most unusual for him to tell the truth about anything. We'd be the ridiculous ones if we expected anything other than lies from him.
Now Hillary, by contrast, is not normally in the business of promotion and advertising. It wouldn't be unreasonable for us to expect her to be as proficient at lying as Mr. Trump, and we don't want to be unreasonable. When Hillary tells a lie, we notice it right away because she is not very good at it. Whereas when Trump tells a lie, it's expected behavior and he is very, very good at it. You might say, "That nobody is better at lying than Donald Trump!" Of course Trump, himself, would never say that. If he did, we would notice it right away. He'd give himself away with his lack of expertise in telling the truth. He doesn't practice enough. He'd be a rank amateur, and we'd notice.
If this election comes down to which candidate is the better and more practiced liar, it is pretty clear who will win.
Very often during election cycle, one power-eager candidate would promote so-called Patriotism or Protectionism https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Protectionism policies targeting usually selfish short-term/sighted objectives that can be delivered professionally in a doublespeak manner in order to please more diverse voters each time.
These objectives are sometimes liked by many/most innocent or less-educated voters disregarding their irrationality or unhealthy long-term systemic results!
