P.S. Did you see Robert Reich's ~4-minute video at the beginning?
No, but just watched it now. This video started out strong, but misses the fundamental reason why Trump is in office: Enough of the American people realized that our institutions such as the media, the CIA, our courts, and our politicians have been compromised by corrupt, partisan interests.
Many people feel that affirmative action has degraded to a device used for identity politics. Regardless of political affiliation, people feel they are not being represented in Washington. Look at the sub 20% approval rating for Congress. The sub 50% credibility ratings for the media is another sign people don’t trust our system. This distrust of the media happened well before Trump became President as you should know.
I interact with many people on a daily basis. I would say that 95% of these people are good and care about our society regardless of age, wealth, political affiliation, education, or race. This is in spite of, apparently, the media’s efforts to cast people against each other.
Until we sincerely address the symptoms of our illness, we are likely to attract those who display more and more unconventional characteristics in the hope of finding someone who will change our non-respresentative and disfunctional system.
Trump is (hopefully) battling the entrenched corrupt establishment and their enablers.
Is anyone sincerely suprised to see Trump face a backlash from our corrupt establishment?
Trump is almost certainly our last shot at restoring our system that would befit a healthy Democracy.
Trump needs to support of all people, both Liberal and Conservative. When there are marches on Washington, such as a recent women’s march calling for representation, the media miscasts their purpose and provides minimal coverage of the event. When there is a organized devisive march, the media will cover it ad nauseum.
It is up to each one of us to see through the veil put in front of us by the corrupt establishment and to take action, such as participating and organizing marches to show our support for a positive change in our system.
It will take no less than this for us to maintain our Democracy.
