I've worked on the design side of a lot of construction projects. Business owners rarely interact with anyone other than architects, engineers, and general contractors during a project like this.

Safety codes, safety equipment, and construction crew background checks should all be the responsibility of the general contractor. I'm not sure why Trump would be blamed for these things.

Trump uses a degree of separation like a master. He knew asbestos was more expensive to deal with (and why), he found the contractor who would do it cheap and now you are in his little ditch of a moat.

He really has perfected a kind of active armor like expensive battle vehicles use . As a say RPG strikes, an opposing explosive charge fires outwards to cancel the projectile and detonate it's shaped charge harmlessly, inches from the vehicle. Someone is fired, distracts the media/regulators and he trundles on.

Every single major construction project I've helped design has gone through a bid process. Contractors give the business owner a bid to complete the project as designed based off their estimated cost to complete the project. Typically the lowest bid is accepted. At that point, the GC is responsible for adhering to building and safety codes. If the workers were undocumented and forced to work in unsafe conditions, that isn't on Trump, it's on the GC.

It is possible Trump found a shady GC and knowingly put the workers in danger, but I don't see any evidence of that from the article posted.

My dad was an electrical and mechanical engineer and built power plants from the early 60s to late 70s. We would get various magazines delivered, engineer's journals etc. and I recall reading about asbestos myself. I very much recall him giving us specific warnings to never pick at or scratch the asbestos sheet fireproofing the door from the garage to the kitchen (or bounce balls of it). That would have been the 70s.

I have no doubt whatsoever that your plant engineers and owners knew they were killing men, as coal mine owners, the gypsum mines, you name it. Your life had a price to them and it was not much.

I recall an article, probably in Popular Mechanics and from the 1970s about the risks to mechanics from brake pad dust. People knew, VERY MANY people knew, if you did not know then maybe have a good think about all the other things you only found out well after the fact.

This is the same with Trump. I did not wake up one day and decide I think he is a mortal danger to western civilization. I had watched a lot of the Apprentice over the years however I chose to take the time to dig deeper. I watched a lot of documentaries, I pieced together a lot of his business history and personal activities.

Dig deeper is all I can say. Even for the first time in your life look not left and right at the other guys for their consensus.

I'm sure many people knew and I addressed that. People at the top knowing and actual enforcement are two different things. Yes, the lives of the people doing the work was not the priority, money was. You'll get no argument from me on that. I'm an old school union guy from a time when unions served a purpose, and before union leadership itself became corrupted. I punched the time clock and was lucky enough to work at a time when experience itself was enough to get promotions. Made the shift into management during the early 90's. As time went on I moved up. As a Site Manager the best compliment I ever received was being told I was a working mans boss. That made me the guy who could get projects done on time, on budget. it also kept me from going further up the ladder. The boardroom boyz didn't like my direct nature when I told them their silly fucking ideas wouldn't work in the real world. The safety of my guys, and some gals, always came first. And we still got the f'n job done. All that said, this won't put a dent in the Trump amour. Not this, not Stormy, not shady business deals, not his abrasive nature, etc. etc. Unless some actual collusion is proven, he's here to stay.

BTW, I didn't vote for Trump. I'm not in any ditch. I just don't have blinding hatred for him some people have.

I am not blind either but this is how it works. He always has a fall guy is my point. This everyone was guilty is fine, but everyone is not the president which has always had a dual role of pragmatic but also moral leadership (sappy idealism but it is part of American character).

The guy is amoral on a whole new level, he can't provide any moral leadership. That is a problem. He can't even fake it well.

He is probably here for the full term. Collusion is not what will get him, he will have done his usual degree of separation from that. There was collusion between guys working for him and Russia but it may never amount to anything. His taxes and money laundering, other illegal practices may have more teeth. An investigation was set up to see what Russia was up to, HE is the one driving the narrative that it is about his personal collusion, knowing that is a sand dune the investigators will fail on.

This is a very old trick.

Trump is asbestos, America will be fine for a spell but it will pay for this disproportionately in the future.
