Mr. Trump continues vacillating. Now it is his sensitivity and understanding of women re Roe v Wade, where not many hours ago, the overturning of Roe v Wade was to be a litmus test for his new Supreme Court pick. Where it was Dear Vladimir, now it's, "I may ask that the hackers be expedited." (Of course no one but Putin and translators will be in that room when he meets with "Dear Vladimir"! If ever there were a President requiring a witness, this is it.)
Why, oh why, does he do this. Why does he create chaos wherever he goes and ruin the lives of many he touches. I think I know.
It's his totally out of control narcissism. He must be constantly in the public eye, and constantly liked. He must sound like a jackass one moment and appear presidential and dignified the next. Those he interacts with harbor a range of views. He his forced, therefore, to vacillate hither and yon with no real rudder to his life. To grab a headline, he must say horrible things about a person one moment; then in the next, he must compliment the target of his uncomplimentary remarks. He must lie constantly to cover his inconsistent statements of the previous twenty-four hours. And, he must be in charge and at the focus point of all attention. He must be seen with important people -- the queen, prime ministers, rich people, beautiful women -- anyone whose feigned obeisance reassure him. And above all, he must be liked by his "base." His world depends mightily on their chants of "lock her up" and "no collusion."
Anyone who will not feed his insatiable ego becomes "low energy", "little", "a loser." Those that cannot defend themselves become fodder for his demagoguery. They are the enemy; his brown skined "rapists" and "murderers" ; the reason you have no job. Anyone in the way -- contractors, day laborers , banks -- will get a call from his lawyer. Every waking moment is controlled by the need to be on top, to be winning. This is more important than money. Money is only a means to get attention. So he brags about money, even money he has borrowed, even tainted money from known thieves! Money, and the attention it can buy, is more important than even the love of a beautiful woman. His wife becomes a showpiece, a distant statue. She's there only as a symbol of how wonderful he is. In his subconscious mind, he is all that matters; he is vastly more important than the welfare of the Nation he imagines he is leading. He is at the epicenter of his imaginary universe. Sadly, he hasn't a clue. He is a very sick man.
