I will again note your forgiveness for Obama driving up the debt because of an excuse you have determined is acceptable, but COVID is Trump's fault, 9/11 was Bush's fault, and I'm sure if we go back far enough we can find things that are every Republican President's fault while at the same time forgiving Democrats for similar things.

Let alone the fact that spending is actually controlled by Congress, as is the budget and you really need to take a look at what programs increased markedly and why. It wasn't Bush's decision to spend during the all Democrat House, Senate and White House.

Instead, you need to accept that both parties spend like drunken sailors. The only difference between them is that Republicans are supposed to be the part of fiscal conservatism - which makes them worse in this regard because they are full of shit.

I don't - even for a second - suggest that the Fed isn't going full tilt now under Trump. So don't try to imply I did.

The difference under Trump is that now we have both monetary madness AND Fiscal madness. Which is what we will have on steroids during the next four years if the democrats OR the GOP wins the House, Senate and Presidency. Right now the only thing holding back the abyss is the fact that one party is stopping the other from doing something.

You too are so hell bent on pointing out flaws on the other side while forgiving those on your own that you've lost sight of, or no longer care about, the problem that both parties are guilty of. You, Ricter, were one of the first on this forum to bring up the concept of "teams" that I remember. You once said something to the effect of "team is more important". That's the problem.

The only problem that matters.

I'll defend him if you're going to say something is his fault and it isn't. I won't defend him when I believe the guy was in error and should be blamed. In fact, I'll pile on! And there is a LOT of stuff to attack him about. But for whatever reason, you guys want to constantly go after things that are quite obviously untrue or extremely subjective.

For example, if you wanted to attack Trump over the economy, go right ahead. There are lots of things he has or hasn't done - the Federal Reserve encouragement of printing and blowing and even bigger bubble after saying before he was elected how Yellen was doing the exact same thing (remember "Big, Fat, Ugly Bubble").

Obama halted discretionary spending, with the exception of the recovery act which had been designed under Bush and had bipartisan approval. The debt rose under Obama because of NON-discretionary spending. You've already conceded there "shouldn't be any non-discretionary spending", years ago.
 
The point about the Fed is that it's moot, because the Fed is aligned under Trump AND Biden. That's why GS doesn't mention it or even monetary policy, because it's a wash. Canceling that factor out means GS still believes Biden will be better for the economy and the equities market.

Speaking of which, Trump wants the world's largest military to spend even more, he wants his border wall, he allegedly wants better infrastructure, and he paid his $750 in federal taxes to prove it.

First, quoting something that had "bi-partisan support" in regards to spending, immediately after I pointed out how both parties spend like mad, doesn't exactly tell us anything.

Second, if you're going to blame Bush for the spending that Obama implemented because he felt it was the right thing to do, then I don't know what to say. That's on Obama just as it is on Bush.

Third, if you are claiming I conceded there shouldn't be any "non-discretionary spending" years ago because I stated my Libertarian position, then you are seriously mischaracterizing my position.

Because, again, in order to get the money into the general economy after the Fed prints it, it needs a mechanism like fiscal stimulus. And GS knows that the only way this happens is for the government to be united. The best odds of that are all Democrat. Its really very simple.

But this isn't necessarily a good thing.

Edit, and I had forgotten, GS likely realizes that only an all Democrat government will be the only way states will get bailouts. CA, NY, NJ, IL, etc..
