Lawful gun owning citizens are likely to be conservative and don't go into schools shooting children. Many of these gun owners are law enforcement, ex law enforcement, military, ex military, hunters, and competitative target shooters.
Your characterization of school shooters as being "Trump tards" does not ring true as it is likely the motivation of some of these shooters, who are children themselves, is to garner the national attention the media greedily gives them. Thus, through copycat crimes and the promise of extreme national attention these sick shooters crave implies the media is complicit in some of these school shootings.

The media is powerful in creating action among those with weak or inexperienced young minds. Weak minds are usually caused by a lack of parental supervision as caused by separation, substance abuse, or parental neglect.
The Left is afraid of these points because it implies the lack of responsibility, such as drug use, has a consequence. Also, the lack of an commitment in a relationship is almost condoned by the Left as shown in some of the sitcom "comedies".
The Republicans control the House, the Senate, the Presidency, and the majority of Governorships because they represent the interests of the people better than the devisive Democrats. It appears trumpeting social issues and control of most of the media will only take a political party so far.
Should our economy continue its current course, the Republicans should gain even more political credibility. A positive outcome on North Korea will probably force the Democrats to look internally and reinvent themselves if they want to preserve at least some of their ideology.
I actually am rooting for the Democrats to make necessary changes in order to stay relevant as this will have the tendency to keep the Republicans on their toes and keep them from taking their power for granted.

We should define "Trump tard". If is it someone who believes that Trump is good for this country, but it is unreasonable to do so, then we are in agreement in the definition of the Leftist self contained ad hominem term "Trump tard".
There are more relevant commonalities between most of the school shooters. They either were being raised by a single or neglectful parents, they had shown some their serious emotional issues on social media before the shootings, authorities have ignored these warnings signs even against the insistence of concerned citizens, and the media is attempting to cultivate young and impressionable minds for political purposes. In addition, the way the Left is covering this issue gives those children who are desperately seeking attention and approval a national stage in which to act out their attention getting behaviors.
Some of these children may see themselves as being some sort of ironic hero in the fight against guns. Remember many of these school shooters have serious mental issues to begin with and are being egged on by a sick, attention-seeking, and politicized media.

By the definition you just gave all the Democrats are already halfway to becoming "Trump tards". Although I usually only call out and defend against those who unfairly attack generally sound practices and don't go on the offensive, this may have to change. Some Liberal ideas and causes have negative cultural effects and it is important that people fully realize this.
For now, Trump is the only President we got. I'm hoping he succeeds with North Korea and his economic policies continue to bear fruit. Not for his sake, but for everone's sake.
Liberals generally shine so much brighter than the conservatives. They are not tied to as many rules and can be truly innovative in the arts, sciences, and business. I had thoughts it would be cool to have a well thought out gift to Kim. It might be a commemorative mural of some kind showing the people of the world celebrating together. A liberal artist could also convey the emotional power of the South Korean families and North Korean familities being able to visit each other.
Like the movie, "The Shard", I believe The United States would be stronger if Democrats and Republicans were respectful of each other and based their arguments on facts and the country's interests rather than attempting to garner all the power for themselves. There is too much "If the Conservative is for it, then I'm against it type of thinking and vice versa.
The United States needs each political party to focus on America above partisan interests. The witch hunts on both sides have weakened us and has left us with much work to do in order for our country to reach the potential that most of us believes it has.
