If President Donald Trump pardons Joe Arpaio, as he broadly hinted at during a rally Tuesday in Arizona, it would not be an ordinary exercise of the power -- it would be an impeachable offense. Arpaio, the former sheriff of Arizona’s Maricopa County, was convicted of criminal contempt of court for ignoring the federal judge’s order that he follow the U.S. Constitution in doing his job. For Trump to pardon him would be an assault on the federal judiciary, the Constitution and the rule of law itself.

President Donald Trump should not have pardoned a former Arizona sheriff who was convicted of criminal contempt in a case of racial profiling, the Republican speaker of the House of Representatives, Paul Ryan, said on Saturday.
Trump announced on Friday he was pardoning Joe Arpaio, an anti-immigration hardliner found guilty last month for flouting a 2011 court order that barred officers from detaining Latino motorists solely on the suspicion they were illegal immigrants.
"Law-enforcement officials have a special responsibility to respect the rights of everyone in the United States. We should not allow anyone to believe that responsibility is diminished by this pardon," Ryan said in a statement.
"The speaker does not agree with the decision," Ryan's spokesman Doug Andres said.

LOL...No I'm not. World affairs are the affairs between 2 nations. Last I checked, an AZ sheriff getting a pardon from the president has nothing to do with any other country.
Mexico would disagree.

World leaders interact with world leaders. As my ancestors are from Ireland/UK/France, I have a bit of an interest there. Obviously we want like minded leaders to interact with. (but to be honest, I was just trying to be funny that day.)
Anyway, as an American, I wouldn't be bitching about what I think some sheriff in Lyonnais should be doing and what their courts should be doing. That's just asinine. Why would any sane person take an interest in another countries local politics?
Mexico doesn't want those Mexicans anymore than we do, I guess.
Can you imagine the USA getting upset at another country, because they were deporting our citizens who went there illegally?
No, but I can see the US getting upset if they were being treated as common criminals and dehumanized for seeking a better way of life.
