I was going to title this thread "Let's watch Trump mess up our relationship with Japan on trade now", but it seemed a bit long.

politicians always say - 'bring our soldiers home blah blah'..... cost is never an issue.... of course japan can self defend... it's about establishing global domination with military basis... very important position in Japan and Korea, to have China surrounded from the east, south, and west.

Are you sure about that? What's next then in this geopolitical chess board? How would China and Taiwan react? How would North Korea and Russia react? How do you think that would influence future trade talks in Asia? How do you think sanction could be enforced?

Of course not. Do you understand geopolitics? The US-Japan military relationship is a symbiotic one. Japan gets free defense and the US urgently needs the Okinawa, Gotemba/Camp Fuji, and Yokosuka bases to complement their South/East Asian presence with their Philippine and Korean bases. They are of vital geo-strategic importance to counter China and have been a peace guarantor for nearly 70 years now. The ones that pay the price is not American tax payers (they actually make a great bargain with this deal in Japan) but the locals in Okinawa and poor girls that get raped near the bases every now and then. I make the presumption they got raped as the US regularly refuses to hold its own soldiers responsible and refuses proper investigations when such accusations surface.

trade negs with China is fundamentally different from with any other regions/countries due to the geopolitical implications...

with Japan, Canada, mex, Europe, these are really just dollars and cents.... and if the US can disrupt almost cost free, why not, it's like putting on an almost risk free trade.

with China it's different... it's about world dominance... shutting down HuaWei 5G is about stopping the Chinese military from infiltrating the west.

US and Japan has this unsaid agreement, Japan puts a lot of money in US treasuries and Bond Markets, and US doesn't call Japan a currency manipulator. Japanese Companies provide a lot of Jobs in the US and get a lot of business from the US, Japanese although very nationalistic, allow US companies to flourish in Japan... This is one financial alliance Trump really can't fuck up, I don't think he understand the scope relationship at hand.

Japan is anti china, which is great... This ain't china tho, Japan is much much more important to the US economy and geopolitical environment. If Japanese Authorities were already on edge about too much Japanese money in CLO's and bad debt, well Trump better act accordingly or a new law might come out " forcing " them to dump certain level of CLO's and that's very bad news for the US, especially at the moment.... Pension Funds and Japan are the US CLO Market and Credit Markets. He will do the right thing, no tariffs trade deal, he has too much pressure not to do so.

So can Israel (who gives its citizens socialized healthcare while we give them more aid than any other country outside of Iraq and Afghanistan).

military bases are cost centers yes... but eventually the 'protected' pay.. why in the US can we buy so much cheap stuff in Walmart... because printing money doesn't cost anything... but you need the military bases to ensure the right to print.
