So to clarify the position of conservatives: naturalized citizens (who are immigrants by definition) should not be entitled to using government services like police, fire, and the safety net despite their paying taxes to fund those services.

My Grandmother was a legal immigrant, she never become a citizen nor learned English at her advanced age. My Father and Uncle both became citizens as soon as was possible, learned English and have been exemplary examples of the American dream.

I don’t know the answer to that question. My mom took 15 years while my dad took 2 years.

How do you feel about your father invading this country and taking jobs and resources away from the natural born citizens of his day? Do you feel shame about it? You should.

My Father took away no resources. When he came here, his Great Aunt had to sign that he would be her responsibility and unable to claim any benefits for 3 years.

By year 9, he learned English, became a citizen and opened his own business.

That is what is referred to as America built by immigrants.

Not sneak over the border by the dark of night, squeeze out a kid and siphon off the American teat. No Inglese senor.

Agreed, bad on both sides.

I don't want immigrants to come here, work and produce. I want immigrants to come here that wish to become AMERICANS. That means work, produce, learn the language and become citizens.

Lack any of those abilities? Don't come.

This is actually related to immigration policy rather than tax policy.

Immigrants should not be a burden on your social welfare system.

We should distinguish always between legal immigrants and illegal. Morally we should make exceptions for those here illegally but innocently so, although that opens a large can of worms. The U.S. has created anaother moral dilemma for itself by lax prosecution of employers who employed those illegally here or whose visas did not permit them to work.

We have created a mess for ourselves in the interest of greed. Now we want to punish those we took advantage of. In the Christian, Western world the standard is not to hold others responsible for our own mistakes. Apparently the U.S. is not, despite the claims of the evangelicals, a Christian nation.

Maybe I should ask her, if she were still alive, why she didn't take a dime of government money when it seems so many are today? Maybe she was stupid huh?
