As if the contrast between Trump and Biden wasn't clear enough yesterday's assassination attempt magnified it 100 fold.
Biden, the doddering old man who is tested with a press conference in the hope he can put two sentences together without screwing it up. Trump, gets shot, seconds later stands up defiantly, fist in the air, yelling fight, fight, fight. A man in command in any circumstance, leading and unafraid.
The bullets were fired at Trump, but the Biden campaign took the hit, a direct hit and there is no political recovery for them or the democratic party. If it was difficult to persuade a replacement before, it's now impossible. Trump is now unbeatable and all of the potential candidates who may have run against him are well aware of that.

Agree, Newscum and Gretscum would be stupid to stand against trump now. Easier to wait until 2028.
However Kamaltoe will still want the poison chalice of the nomination if it means she gets to becomes POTUS for a few months before the election and also for 2 and half months after.
Trump spent 10 days watching the Democrats lose the news cycle everyday. The Democrats at the end were begging Trump to get back in the news hoping they could win a news cycle...... damage has been done...
Now Trump will win a week of news cycles from the convention.
This break in coverage of the coup will keep Biden in the race
