Then why did Trump hire them? And some of them were never in government, so how are they lifelong political hacks?

Why were they hired? I think Trump underestimated how murky and pervasive the swamp actually is.

We are not talking about just a few people here, if you are saying that the huge majority of people Trump hires are part of the swamp, what good is his judgement at all? Maybe he hires them based on looks and money, he doesn't care about the swamp as you put it.
